Hey, I know we only won our new 51-48-1 majority last night, but hey, the prospect of renewed GOP Senate control is just too exciting to contemplate after 18 months of RAT domination. I just cannot wait to see these RAT committee chairman go. The sooner the better. Time to start cleaning house with a new organizing resolution to reflect the new Senate balance of power as soon as Sen. Elect Jim Talent (R-MO) gets sworn in which should be about a week from now.

McClain did good work in this last election. He campaigned all over the nation and was very helpful to the GOP. While I am not a big fan there is no reason to punish him and W won't. He will likely head the Commerce Committee.

Fitzgerald should be Finance Chairman instead of squishy moderate Grassley. There is no greater fan of tax cuts than Peter Fitzgerald. He needs to be in a high-profile position now that the 'RATs have sweep every Illinois statewide office except one (treasurer). He's up for re-election in 2004 and you can bet the Chicago machine is targeting him.

The only way I would let McShame have free reign over the Commerce Committee is if he signs a legally enforcable contract to retire at the end of his current term in '04 and pledge never to run for President again except to compete for the RAT nomination. The man is a disgrace to the Republican Party who championed Democrat Congressional Majority Insurance (Campaign Finance Reform) bill. There is nothing he could do at this point to atone for his betrayal of the GOP Congressional majority. If it weren't for our slender GOP majority, I would kick him out of the Senate Republican Caucus and leave him without committee assignments.

It is clear your perception of political realities is foggy at best. McCain has the right to have ideas which differ from other Republicans. The GOP is not the Nazi party. Your vindictive ideas are surefire losers for the party.

McCain's constiuents voted for him and his ideas and he has every right to them even if we don't like them.

He was on Larry King last night praising Bush up one side and down the other.

McCain has been the incessant thorn in the President's and the Republican Party's side. He has sponsored one RAT bill over another to the consternation of the Republicans in Congress. He has ripped into Bush for quite a while. Now that the GOP is in a position to return the favor, we should not fail to avail ourselves of the opportunity for a little payback.

Exactly, no more cooperation with the RATS! From here on out we implement a pro-life litmus test for ALL of the President's judicial nominees from Supreme Court on down. Its time for Sandra Day O'Connor to retire from the Supremes so the President can get his first chance to show how committed he is to the pro-life cause.

Be that as it may, McCain did good work during this election and helped the GOP to victory. He is a strong supporter on Iraq as well. There will be no punishment nor is there reason to have any. The GOP is not monolithic or vindictive like the RATS.

I can only hope! And I hope that Hatch and the other GOPers don't forget how sleazy LeakyLeahy and the other 'rats were -- especially how they lied and obstructed and even said that ideology matters in judicial appointments.

In January 2000, Lott and the others bent over backwards to treat them better than fair, and when Judas Jeffarts skipped across the aisle, all that respect and collegiality went out the window.

A couple of possible modifications to that listing. I heard on the radio Shelby is now ranking on two committees (Banking because Gramm retired) and Intelligence. He may choose to become chairman of Banking. Also, Domenici may pull seniority and take over the chairmanship of Energy.

O'Connor and Rhenquist may go when it is assured that appropriate replacements are nominated and approved.

I don't agree with litmus tests and although I think Hatch wants and is capable of revenge against Leahy and especially Chuckie Schumer, I think the Pubs will return to the original Constitutional role of "advise and consent."
