This was a good decision.. the D.A. was trying to make this a felony case... the jury said no, this is a misdemeanor case.

Cutting the security tags off merchandise equals vandalism.

Removing said merchandise from the store without paying DOES NOT equal stealing???

A mistake by the prosecuter. By giving the jury a lesser charge to act on, they split the difference. They obviously didn't feel that their case for theft was strong enough or were just plain greedy.
