Clintons Toast? Think Again, Say Matthews and Caddell

Not only did last night's Republican rout not diminish Bill and Hillary Clinton's starring role in Democratic Party politics, the big Bush congressional win sets the stage for a showdown between the two political dynasties in 2004.

That's the prediction from MSNBC's Chris Matthews and the network's resident political analyst Pat Caddell, who say that Tuesday's big Democratic loss makes the party more likely to turn to the former first couple for the next big race.

"This sets the stage for the battle of the political dynasties," said Matthews, as the dimensions of the Democratic debacle were becoming apparent in the wee hours of the morning. "And (the Clintons) want back in the White House."

What about the fact that so many candidates backed by Bill and Hillary crashed and burned last night, including Florida and New York gubernatorial challengers Bill McBride and Carl McCall?

That only enhances the Clintons' prospects, said the MSNBC host, because "what the Democratic Party respects most is loyalty."

Bill and Hillary became the Democrats' "break glass in case of emergency" rescue squad, contended Matthews. When desperate Democrats called, the Clintons came, they campaigned and - even if he didn't conquer - they'll be remembered for not running from the fight.

Especially with African-Americans, whose low turnout hurt Democrats last night, but who will flock to the polls to vote for Hillary Clinton as the wife of the nation's "first black president."

Pat Caddell was even more certain that Mrs. Clinton's star wasn't dimmed by last night's defeat.

"She's gonna run in 2004," he told Matthews. "They can't wait till 2008. One way or another; a draft or whatever, she's in the race."

Not everyone on the MSNBC panel agreed, however. Newsweek's Howard Fineman, who sat silently as Matthews and Caddell touted a 2004 Bush-Clinton rematch, told radioman Don Imus Wednesday morning, "The Clinton era is finally, finally over."

I welcome a prominent role for Bubba and the Hildabeast in Democratic politics. It will only produce more big wins for Republicans in 2004.

What an interesting parallel. That's EXACTLY what Adolf Hitler valued most in his bunker in 1945.

Fineman can only hope. The only prayer for the Dems is to completely repudiate Clintonism and all things Clinton. But Bill and Hill won't let them, and will cling to their perch like a tick on a sow. I hope Hillary moves to the forefront of the Party. I hope the Dems hang their hopes on her beefy hips. I hope the Dems are too stupid to realize that the solution to failure is not to do more of what is failing. But I figure that there has to be someone realistic enough in the Democratic Party to boot McAuliffe out of the DNC and start all over again. If the economy does not improve by 2004, Bush will be vulnerable.

Don't anyone tell the Kennedys that they don't count anymore.

So what the Rats respect most is "loyalty". I think that says it all. I think Mathews showed the true Rat agenda with that statement. The Rats don't stand for anything except loyalty---screw the real issues, just give us loyalty.

That, to me says it all.

Good. An opportunity to drive a stake through the heart of the Kruegers of politics.

Why are the Clintons considered a dynasty? There are 2 of them a man and a woman who have only connected with each other via ashtrays....

Matthews can make predictions about the Clintons surviving, but I predict that Matthews is more worried about his own survival, now that his ratings are below Donahue.

Here's the TRUTH about the Clinton "success story":

1. Bill Clinton won BOTH terms, because of ONE MAN: Ross Perot. In neither instance did Clinton win a majority of the vote, and in 1996, he only won as many as he did because Dole was the most unattractive candidate that the GOP had run since Herbert Hoover.

2. Hillary! won in New York ONLY because New York City-ans worship the Cult of Celebrity, and because the GOP ran a downstate Congressman with little name recognition outside of Long Island.

3. Two years after Clinton first took office, the Democrats lost Congress for the first time in nearly fifty years, and were never to hold Congress again throughout the remainder of his term. And the only way Clinton could remain viable was to kowtow to conservative initiatives like welfare reform (remember his promise to the stupid dem zombies that he would "repeal it as soon as he could"?)

4. NONE of the Clintons' hand-picked candidates have won an election that was even remotely contested.

The moral of the story is that the Clintons are the best thing that ever happened to Republicans and conservatives. I pray to the Lord Above that the mesmerizing power of the Clintons survives the Democrat humiliation last night, and I would love NOTHING better than to see Hillary! attempt to unseat GWB in 2004. It will be something for us to relish to our dying days, I truly believe!

The Dems have a death wish by holding onto the Clinton's and since neither of the World's Smartest Couple ever reciprocate those warm, squishy feelings of loyalty, this claim by Matthews is nothing but bloviating.I hope he truly believes such bilge.

Go Hillary Go!!

I have a small quibble. I would argue Bill Richardson could be called a Clinton hand-picked candidate. What is most significant is the number of Clintonoids (Reich, Reno) who couldn't make it out of the primary.

I'm completely baffled by the "thought" processes associated with this. The Clintons campaign for Dems and win and they're gods; they campaign for Dems and lose and they're still gods??? What exactly would these low-lifes have to do to get rid of them forever, anyway?
