Can we expect any defections to the GOP?

Posted on 11/06/2002 3:41:55 AM PST by Bluegrass Federalist

Can we expect any other Dems, like Breaux or Zell Miller, to jump ship to the GOP now that the majority is secure? I would imagine that they will not want their states to suffer like NY, NJ, W.Va., and especially Vermont are going to in the pork department. It will be interesting to watch, but what do you guys expect? Since we are Chafee-proof (and if we get SD, McCainiac-proof, too), it looks like the shoe is on the other foot.

I am very concerned about Republicans defecting. My first and greatest concern is that McCain will declare himself an independant and essentiall caucus with both parties so he can actually carry more weight than any other senator by functioning as a valuable swing vote on anything that is close.

Maybe McCain will jump to the GOP. Oh, I forgot, he already is a Republican.
