I'm not that familiar with the high schools in SB, though I did go back and live there the first time my husband was in Korea. Our kids were just newborn and 3 at the time, though. I miss the large freshwater lakes and the dunes (I know, I know, I have the ocean year-round) and fall colors, but I sure don't miss the winters. I do like to watch politics in the area though - it's amazing to see a Republican drift. Having read the South Bend Tribune for so long, I rather assumed the whole state leaned left.
Still hoping for a Republican trend here at least for the Governor and some more state house seats, but it's going to be a squeaker as well. Our unions are still pretty strong behind the Democrats, and the unions are huge here.
I can scarcely live in a place that isn't near large bodies of water. I attended UC Berkeley and the view of the bay and the Pacific was one of my comforts. When I was in the Army and stationed in the beautiful city of Nuremburg, Germany my only gripe was that there was no ocean nearby.
Can't blame you for not missing the winters!!
Although the Trib leans left, it's amazing what sometimes appears there. Just the other day, a guy foiled a robbery attempt by brandishing a handgun. The next day it actually made the front page of the Trib!!! It left me slack-jawed.
