I didn't know that they changed my Congressional District from 7 to 3 a few months ago. I went in to vote this moring with the intentions of voting for John Mica, but he was not on my ballot, because I am no longer in his district. I along with many other Central Floridians are now in Congressional District 3, I voted for Jennifer Carroll
Jennifer Carroll is trying to become the first black Republican woman elected to Congress. In a rematch of 2000, she is trying to unseat Rep. Corrine Brown, D-Fla., who also is black, in a strong Democratic district.
Two years ago, Brown received 58 percent of the vote to Carroll's 42 percent. After her defeat, Carroll told the Republican National Committee that the party must get its message to minorities in order to get their votes.
More about Jennifer Carroll online here
Here is a map of the NEW Congressional District 3 in Florida. (I live in that little part of Seminole County that is now part of District 3)

I didn't know they changed the District in July or August.
I called the Supervisior of elections after I got home this morning, and they told me that they mailed out the new voter registration cards with the new district information near the end of October. I guess I haven't recieved my new card and distrtict information yet.
I did call Jennifer Carroll this morning, I thought I was calling her campaign office, but got her cell phone. I told her that I voted for her, and would do everything I could to help get others to do the same today. I also got on the local talk radio station this moring to talk about the new districts, and to encourage others to vote for Jennifer Carroll.
I wish I would have known about the district change before the election, I could have been more involved in helping Jennifer Carroll unseat Rep. Corrine Brown.

There are only 2 amendments that I will vote "yes" for; 2 and 7. Everything else is just liberal junk candy.
To: metesky
LOL, actually the pubbies redrew the districts down here. We will increase the number of Republicans in Congress by at least one down here.
To: jgrubbs
It's on your new voter registration card.

They didn't mail my new voter registration card in time, I dont have it yet. I called them about it, they said it was mailed the end of October.

Boy, that's discouraging. We were out in Jax in ALL of the newly redistricted areas hanging Jennifer fliers on the doors and chatting with residents about her.
Yes, the district is gerrymandered to be a predominantly black distict, following rail road tracks down into Orlando. The Republican led legislature redistricted many new neighborhoods into district 3 that are racially integrated and more middle class.
The strong support for a relatively unknown candidate in 2000 is indicative of just how much even moderate democrats are opposed to Corrupt Corrine. Brown is already out this morning shreiking because some of the scanners in her district are not working properly. These are the same precincts where poll workers failed to show up for the primaries, and also couldn't figure out how to turn on the equipment, after failing to show up for training.
Yes, vote for Jennifer and pray for John Stafford, supervisor of elections here in Duval County. With any luck, this will be the last election cycle that he will have to deal with that witch.

It actually will slow down the death penalty process.
To: jgrubbs
Then you need to contact the RNC asap. You can claim that the local Elections supervisor attempted to interfere with your right to vote. You'd best think about it as the demorats are already lining up their lawyers in Florida to attack us.
To: Nuke'm Glowing
You will have to explain that to me, I may have read it wrong.

It's a little late now, but bottom line is that if it passes, the attorneys will bottle up all death penalty cases for 10 years until this amendment receives review by the SCOTUS. It's a very, very poorly written law which has great intentions but only complicates the process.
To: metesky
LOL, the dems are still steamed because Jeb and the Republican legislature redrew the districts (we picked up 2 seats after the last census) and created pretty much minority only demorat districts while enhancing the middle class pubbie districts. It's known as undoing what the rats have done in the past. And it's going to be a heavy turnout down here (projecting 60%!!!).
To: Nuke'm Glowing
It's known as undoing what the rats have done in the past.Too many of our own people forget that it took the Rats 70 years (1932-2002) to get us to where we are now and expect Dubya to return us overnight to pre-WWII America.
If we can win big today, we'll be doing the re-districting all over the country, we'll be getting judges who at least read the law (no penumbras) and setting the course for America for decades to come.
I expect the best today, but I've still got my fingers crossed.
