Tuesday's election could pack more suspense than some people expected. The governor's race and Iowa's U.S. Senate race have tightened, with the Republican challengers gaining ground on the Democratic incumbents.
The Des Moines Register's Iowa Poll shows Des Moines lawyer Doug Gross has drawn within 12 percentage points of Gov. Tom Vilsack after trailing by 18 points in September.

Poll Ping!
I don't expect Ganske to win, but these numbers look more realistic than the 20-point margins we've been seeing in other polls.
If you want on or off my poll ping list, let me know!

Could Ganske's mini-surge have anything to do with Harkin's shameless speech at the Fune-rally for Wellstone? Nah.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette, this morning, says Bush is in CR on behalf of Leach. No mention of Ganske, Gross, et al.

As said earlier, 8-10 points in the Senate race seems like a realistic poll margin. Ganske could still win this thing, but he needs a lot to go right.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette, this morning, says Bush is in CR on behalf of Leach. No mention of Ganske, Gross, et al. They were both there -- I was there, and Dubya was campaigning just as hard for Ganske and Gross as he was for Leach.
