SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Republican Jim Ryan has closed the gap with Democrat Rod Blagojevich, creating an apparent dead heat in the race for Illinois governor days before statewide elections, according to a new Post-Dispatch poll.
The statewide poll of 802 likely voters found that 43.5 percent support Ryan, while 43.2 percent support Blagojevich.

Blago must be getting nervous...he has to "find" more voters.

I hope that this isn't just wishful thinking. Yesterday evening, I received one of those taped phone messages urging me to support Rod Thebagofshit and Lisa Madwoman. Hung that baby up right away!!

Blago must be getting nervous...he has to "find" more voters. Daley will dig up what Blago needs. Seriously though, I hope Zogby has it right. Ryan has been closing the wide gap in the last 2 weeks and while I thought it was too late in the game to pull off an upset...Maybe NOT! GO RYAN!
My advice to the Illinois GOP: Send an army of poll watchers into every precint in Chicago. Vote Fraud is alive and well in the Daley machine as the last election made so very clear.

Reviewing Zogby's newest batch circulating on the net and Meet the Press, I've concluded he's just a perpetual contrarian. You know, the notion that simply running against the grain of conventional wisdom is incisive in and of itself. He did it predicting victories for Lazio, D'amato, and Mosley Braun. He predicted a knock-down dragout between Bush and McCain all the way up to the 2000 convention.

As the late Sen. Ev Dirksen remarked: Chicago is where your vote counts. . .and counts. . .and counts.
I wish Blago would get thumped. All that hairspray can't be good for the environment.

I have lived in Illinois my entire life, and I can tell you that Daley gets nothing out of Blowdryovich being Governor. He has prospered with the Republicans in charge in Springfield. He has gotten along well with every Republican Governor. Daley likes being the top dog Democrat in Illinois. He is going to do nothing to help Blowdryovich in the race.

FWIW, I spoke with a self-described precinct captain with Daley-Madigan connections (a payroller, for those fortunate enough to live a distance from Chicago) from the southwest side last week. He said that, after Lisa Madigan, his orders were to "highlight" a vote for Roddie.
I don't know for a fact that the guy is what he claimed. He certainly seemed sleazy enough, though.

Up on the north and northwest side of the city, Ald. Dick Mell's thugs will be extracting votes...Statewide, the unions, the "education industry," the trial lawyers and the other special interests too numerous to name will be pushing hard for Blago.

I have lived in Illinois my entire life, and I can tell you that Daley gets nothing out of Blowdryovich being Governor. I have lived in IL all my life too. I have lived downstate and in the Chicago area. I totally disagree with your statement. If there is a democrat as Gov, Daley will benefit. You can take that to the bank.

I probably would have hung up, too. But I'm learning. Maybe the best thing if you receive such a call is to quietly put the phone down on the table and let them blab on. Even with a computer you're wasting time that the machine could use to dial someone else.

Chi-town Chief: I might have hung up too. We've got a tax referendum for the local school district, since we've got kids, they called me. Maybe they called everyone. Well, I got a live person. I told the guy off. You're right, I should've let him prattle on...fed him some garbage along the lines of "Sure I'll vote, 'Yes,'" and I'll tell my neighbors. Let them get cocky....and surprise, surprise for them on election night.

If Chicago votes the dead, live democrats will go to jail.
If Chicago votes the dead, live democrats will go to jail.
If Chicago votes the dead, live democrats will go to jail.
If Chicago votes the dead, live democrats will go to jail.
Not much fun...
