My understanding is that the latest generation of explosive detectors employs neutron emission. I don't think an anti-sniffing jacket would help with one of those.

Those won't be in airports for years...Assuming they make it past the FDA, et. al.

Each bomb detector costs a million dollars a unit. A trained bomb sniffing dog (which I've read on here are 90% accurate)costs $10,000 to train.

Not perfect odds to be sure, but until the bomb detectors are widely available, I'd feel a lot safer if every passenger had to be screened by a dog before they could get on an airplane.
