Logic is irrelevant in an election. If it were not so then race baiters, child murderers, and welfare whores would have no appeal, but they do. Logic has nothing to do in an election, self interest is the only thing that matters.

No Sir, the logic behind having the local voters vote your way depends on what and how the voters were told about the issues.

If they are oldor senile and not to "quick", scare them, and you put a program together that "explains" how they are going to die from lack of something", they just might believe it long enough to vote the new Democrat/Liberal/Socialist/Liar way.

The kids don't care to tell the folks, so they vote that way...
