It can be overcome...and that frightens many other people Well, Yes it can be extremely frightening, when people are telling you its demons. I know as a child I was afraid to go to sleep at night for fear of it happening again. I only became unafraid when I found out it was a sleeping disorder and happens to many people. Now that I know what is it.. Doesn't scare me at all, in fact.. I don't fight it.(like I use to when I was a child) . I just go back to sleep and wake up right!! LOL

I've experienced this a few times. The first one scared the hell out of me until I reasoned my way through it. I saw a very realistic figure standing over my bed, looking down at me. It was as 'real' as anything could be. When I tried to speak I found I couldn't. Only by willing myself to full consciousness was I able to let loose a yell, and of course when I did the 'apparition' vanished. I finally realized it was a very vivid semi-conscious dream state brought on by stress. I'm sure this is what many 'ghost' stories are based on.
