Is this article supposed to make us feel sorry for Davis? That he's not happy? He's alone? He's worked hard but no one loves him?

What I really liked about this article was the detailed explanation of Davis' career, showing that he has no loyalties except to money and himself; he has no qualms about dumping people for profit; he has nothing without public office. He is a liberal through and through, but being a liberal couldn't win the governor's office, so he tried to be a "centrist".

People, Gray Davis is a liberal. He needs to go. A man with nothing but public office is not a man I want making decisions.

Dump Davis. Send him back to his West Hollywood condo.

I posted a different article in that issue of the Weekly and I was struck by the strange level of passion in their endorsement of Davis. They basically said that he was a liberal despite his instincts, and because of his almost unintentional support of progressive causes, he should be re-elected.

Curiously, they didn't mention the power crisis or the upcoming budget disaster at all.

The Weekly is too honest to run a fawning profile of the man, at least. They don't like him, but since he sort of supports "the cause", they're in bed with him.

Strange, no?
