Long but informative and important read re: how civil libertarian zealots and the Clinton Administration hamstrung domestic intelligence-gathering and national security efforts, stymied surveillance of at least three 9/11 terrorists, and destroyed the morale of agents trying to protect our country.

Yeah, it's a good article. I want to get rid of civil liberties and I want to get rid of them now. Can't be too safe.

I want to get rid of civil liberties and I want to get rid of them now. Can't be too safe. How is the author isn't trying to "get rid of civil liberties"? At most, she wants to get rid of inane regulations from the Scumbag administration that hamstring investigators and prosecutors trying to protect our country. Somehow the republic managed to survive for two centuries without the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and the Reno Guidelines. Perhaps no one cares about civil liberties except you and Janet Reno. </ sarcasm >
Your inane comment suggests that what you really don't want to get rid of is your ignorance. Can't be too stupid.

I want to share a few things about our actual enemies.
Our actual enemies are Islamic-extremists who are not trying to take our rights away. They're trying to kill us and everything we represent to them, including our 'civil liberties'
They have also strategically (and correctly) determined that our (paramount) concern will be having our 'civil liberties' taken away. This has created the perfect 'wall' to hide behind; from which they plan to annihilate all those who don't immediately adopt their "New Islamic-Extremist Civil Liberties Program"
Keep in mind, these are extremists. In their dark and twisted minds, this all makes perfect sense. Please don't assume that their backup plan is a peaceful co-existence with your desire to protect our 'civil liberties'

I understand Janet Reno was good at connecting the dots. She followed the trail of reporters and press all the way to little Elian's house.
Isn't it the case, that administration was always concerned about the fellings of despots, criminals and assuaging the concerns of their elite buddies and socialists than going after the criminal element and protecting United States interests.
To: ReadMyMind
Are you saying you approve of Reno's prohibition on information sharing between FBI agents?

Cracking down on the crimes that make terrorism possible, above all identity fraud, also risks charges of discrimination. This August, the government charged 14 Detroit-area men, including six physicians, with providing phony documents to immigrants. Is the government only targeting Arab-American doctors? asked Imad Hamad of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. We truly wonder about the timing of it. In the strange logic of these advocates, the defendants, arrested and indicted for serious crimes, were more sinned against than sinning. Ever since the formation of hyphenated groups and hyphenated group think, we've had more concern about perceptions and feelings than about common sense and justice.

Isn't it the case, that administration was always concerned about the fellings of despots, criminals and assuaging the concerns of their elite buddies and socialists than going after the criminal element and protecting United States interests. I guess it depends on what we mean by "criminal element" and "interests." They were relentless in going after Elian's Miami relatives, Kathleen Willey and the Branch Davidians. They worked hard to protect the interests of al Qaeda sympathizers in Kosovo, the Palestinian Authority and the FALN and billionaire tax cheat felons like Mark Rich.

"...Each of these lost opportunities was the foreseeable outcome of senseless terror-fighting restrictions put into place by Attorney General Janet Reno in 1995. Good luck finding any hint of the decisive role of the Clinton Justice Department in press accounts of the Moussaoui and Almihdar affairs, however..." I wonder how Ms. Reno can sleep at night knowing she played a major hand in the death of 3000 people. Just like #42 and his wretched Socialist spouse, she probably has those thoughts buried 'really deep' in her cranium.

Just like #42 and his wretched Socialist spouse, she probably has those thoughts buried 'really deep' in her cranium. That insight requires a brain and a conscience. Reno is a mental defective, X-42 and spouse are moral defectives.

Very well said, Vet. Thanks.

And my hat's off to you, for posting the best article I've read on the events leading up to the NYC tragedy.
Great find!

Don't blame us [the Free Republic]. We saw through Reno

Our actual enemies are Islamic-extremists who are not trying to take our rights away. They're trying to kill us and everything we represent to them, including our 'civil liberties' Maybe if we don't have so many of these civil liberties, the Islamic Extremists won't hate us so much, maybe they'll feel sorry for us and stop trying to kill us en mass.
The FBI wouldn't abuse wire-tapping powers. They never have, so why should we restrict them? Get rid of the civil liberties and do it now. Can't be too safe.

I approve of nothing to do with Reno. That town was built on the immoral divorce industry and sustains itself today on gambling and prostitution. How a small town in Nevada can keep the FBI from sharing information is completely beyond me.
To: ReadMyMind
I think we should at least look into their "New Islamic-Extremist Civil Liberties Program" before we make any hasty decisions, now.
We could hold a forum for their organization to discuss these ideas in .....Baghdad!....Yeah, that's the ticket!

The more I think about this the more I think it should be posted somewhere for everyone to read. Can this be bumped to Front Page at least? The title is correct. This does explain why the FBI didn't stop 9-1-1. Be sure to thank Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Janet Reno.
