"Driving is a privelege, for heaven's sake, make them earn it."
a PRIVILAGE? What would happen to the US if we all stopped driving tomorrow? any economic impact? maybe? still a privelege?

There's no intrinsic right to drive. Our governments can set the standards for the right to drive. If we don't like it, we can elect new representatives.
