Anyone want to make a wager on how soon Lautenberg drops out of the race so the Democrats can substitute yet another candidate?

Somewhere, the party bosses are wondering what they have done to themselves, and are probably trying to figure out a recovery plan. Easing out Lautenberg will probably be at the top of their list.

Another alternative, albeit dubious: Lautenberg publicly declares that he will resign after the election so that the governor can appoint a Democrat for the next two years. Their new campaign slogan: "anything but a nasty Republican".
