Liberals think self-destructive behavior's rewarding. After all they helped a President who had himself serviced off the hook for indulging in the basest of human appetites. In a day and age when Presidents get a pass for getting a blow job from a White House intern, having local drunks given taxpayer paid housing isn't exactly lowering national standards more. Sorry Michael, but they've already been lowered and the "in" thing now is getting lush while people watch nearby.

DIdn't see it mentioned in this article, but the other Drunk Dorm they have in Capitol hill only has a 10% "success" rate of curing these alcoholics. I have success in quotes, as it isn't a benefit if these people move out for the agencies that run the hotel.

David Higdon, a 51-year-old "chronic alcoholic" interviewed by the Seattle Times, applauded this generous approach and explained his preference for getting drunk in his own room to collapsing on the sidewalk. "Dave, I feel the exact same way. I always prefer waking up on Sunday morning with my face in my OWN toilet bowl. LOL!
Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way for me. :(

providing benefits like free meals and free accommodations for a troubled group of people only encourages the expansion of that subculture within a given municipality?
Of course it does.
Lots of addicts can't or won't make it on the street. They like the idea.
Staying drunk and high all the time.
Not having to work, but out of real and imagined fears of being beat up, robbed and killed, they hold down mediocre jobs to house and feed themselves.
Once this program starts, they'll be coming out of the woodwork.
