I don't see how this is curious. While giving Bush such authority is a Republican position, I fail to see how granting the Executive such authority is necessarily a conservative position.

I thought that was implied in my statement. I was trying to wake-up supporters of an unprovoked invasion of Iraq into realizing that they are not supporting the conservative position.

If sitting on our collective hands waiting to be "provoked" is the conservative position, then I'm no conservative. But of course that's complete and total BS. Is there some official committee that defines what it means to be Conservative?

Thank you. I think that it is very informative for you to post the New American's scores here. Do you subscribe? I know that I just received this particular issue in the snail mail yesterday.

These scores are important because the ACU doesn't always tell the whole story with their numbers; that is, they leave a lot to be desired in the votes that they are monitoring.

" they are not supporting the conservative position. "

This is where you cross the line into dishonesty. If you keep your complaints on Iraq to your opinion of the merits of the matter you could be taken seriously.

TO THE SECRETARY OF WAR. (HENRY DEARBORN.)
MONTICELLO, August 28, 1807.
"...such presents as would show a friendly liberality should at the same time be made to those who unequivocally manifest intentions to remain friends; and as to those who indicate contrary intentions, the preparations made should immediately look towards them; and it will be a subject for consideration whether, on satisfactory evidence that any tribe means to strike us, we shall not anticipate by giving them the first blow."

And the reasons and method congress used to authorize the war is well-respected by our Founders:

An Act Further to Protect the Commerce of the United States July 9, 1798.

An Act for the Protection of the Commerce and Seamen of the United States, Against the Tripolitan Cruisers. February 6, 1802.

If you stick to stating your objections to the war as a practical matter- that is a subject worthy of debate.
But when you try to demonize it as unconservative, the history of our country and words of our founders show otherwise.
