In the latest show of defiance against the federal government's crackdown on medicinal marijuana, San Francisco could get into the business of growing and distributing pot for sick people under a first-in-the-nation proposal on next month's local ballot.

San Francisco's Proposition S would direct city officials to explore cultivating and dispensing the plant in light of the federal government's crusade against medical-cannabis clubs.

When we put people in the position of approving drugs by popular vote, it's scary

He actually said that, and meant it.

Leave it to the socialists in SF to come up with a hare-brained scheme like this.

Instead of putting SF city government in the business of supplying pot, they should post city police and state troopers at the existing private clinics to block any efforts by the feds to shut down the lawful trade in medical MJ, and threaten to sue the feds on 10th Amendment grounds if they interfere.

Of course, that would set a precedent for removing the feds from a host of other unconstitutional activities, namely the public dole which provides support for legions of DemocRAT voters. And we can't have that, can we?

Good post. And you are exactly right. The local PD should be defending the rights of citizens under their charge. They should go so far as to arrests the feds for theft.
