I did not say that Treffenger shouldn't have been charged, it was the stupid timing of the ordeal.

We appear to be on opposite sides of the spectrum on this one. Just don't complain the next time Democrats manipulate the legal system for political gain, because you've apparently excused this behavior so long as our guys benefit.

How can I complain when the Republicans in NJ did manipulate the system back when acting governor Donald DiFrancesco dropped out or the race and was replaced by Bob Franks and then had the primary election pushe back 3 weeks?

As I said, from a "political" standpoint, this act by the Federal Prosecutor Chris Christie was nothing more than political grandstanding on his point and erred in judgement for the NJ Republican ticket. I am sure he was chastized in private by high-ranking republicans for what he did and from the tone of the article, he was. This guy is a yahoo looking to promote his political agenda; however, his October surprise on his "own" party will later come to haunt him. Remember elephants have good memories.

I never excused Treffinger's behavior. Christie's action was a bad political stunt against his own party. Treffinger was back to work the next day which made the stunt even more damaging to Republican Christie and proved how Unnecessary the timing of the arrest. Double Whammy for the republicans. Feds postpone arrests of white-collar criminals many times, for some reason, they usually wait until Fridays. So, waiting for an arrest is common and not electioneering or interfering, just business as usual and could have waited one more week.
