Incendiary hand grenade.

The radius of the burst is approximately 6 meters, but fragments of the plastic body occasionally fly as far as 27 meters. Effective portions of the agent may be carried as far as 75 to 100 meters downwind. Personnel using these grenades should wear protective gas masks.

Incendiary Grenades

The AN-M14 incendiary (thermite) hand grenade is cylindrical in shape and has a sheet metal body with emission holes in the top (fig. 12-4). It weighs 32 ounces and contains a filler of 26.5 ounces of TH3 thermite mixture. It uses an igniting fuze that sets fire to the thermite filler after the normal delay. The thermite filler bums for approximately 40 seconds at a temperature of about 4300°F. A portion of the thermite filler changes into molten iron that flows out of the grenade and produces intense heat over a small area. This molten iron ignites or fuzes whatever it touches. It is used to ignite combustible materials and to destroy all types of equipment. It burns through about one-fourth inch of steel and welds together steel or iron machinery parts when molten iron flows between them.

If he was court martialed, it would be in his military records. A summary of his record is available to anyone under the FOIA, you must fill out a SF 180 (that's a standard government form) and send it into the records centre in St Louis.

I suspect that if there is anything in his record of interest it will turn up here: The Smoking Gun.

The blather of military-wannabees and conspiracy buffs notwithstanding, critical stuff like presence in a combat zone, or valour awards, or serious military justice, is never absent from these records.

There is a mild version of military justice, that can be absent from records. In the Army it is known as a "summarized article 15." But it can't lead to prison, dishonourable or bad conduct discharge, or reduction in rank. If Johnny Jihad II here was reduced in rank, it was a stronger version of an Article 15 than that, and it will be reflected in his records.

Right now, it appears that most of what we "know" about JJII and his military service comes from stuff his ex-wife said about him seeking a restraining order. That is at best stuff he told her so there's two strong possibilities of untruth or exaggeration here. (if we had half the "SEALS," "Rangers," "SF," and "Marine Snipers" I meet on a daily basis we would rule the world). I'll wait to judge his record until I can see his record with my own eyes.
