3 Big Newspapers Endorse Gov. Bush, Poll Shows Bush Pulling Ahead

ORLANDO, Fla. -- With just over one week until Election Day, Gov. Jeb Bush has secured the endorsement of three of the state's biggest newspapers.

Bush was endorsed by the Orlando Sentinel, Miami Herald, and Tampa Tribune, WESH NewsChannel 2 reported.

Just one week ago, McBride got the nod from the St. Petersburg Times, Daytona Beach News-Journal and Tallahassee Democrat.

Bush is also scoring points at the polls. The Herald said Bush is ahead by eight points, 51 to 43 percent for McBride, a slightly larger lead than before the debate.

McBride said he's optimistic that the governor's race is still too close to call, and the recent newspaper endorsements reflect how close the vote will be.

"They're all balancing out. The best I can tell, it's sort of reflective of where the campaign is right now. It's a close campaign, and it will be decided on turnout," McBride said.

A University of Central Florida political scientist said Bush's endorsements in the Sentinel and Tribune show McBride is failing to sway undecided voters in the critical I-4 corridor.

Bush spent Sunday stumping for votes in South Florida. After a church service, Bush credited the positive poll numbers to McBride's showing in last week's debate and recent ads painting McBride as a tax-and-spend liberal.

De-spin-erator version:

"It's a close enough campaign, and it will be decided on turnout VOTE FRAUD," McBride said.

No surprise the Daytona News Journal supports McIdiot. It is one of the most liberal, spinning rags in the Nation, and I have lived in the Bay Area and Seattle, too. A buddy of mine enter the political arena here, and the NJ editorial board interviewed him for possible endorsement. They did not ask him any questions concerning politics. Instead they baited him into berating another opponent, which he refused to do. needless to say he did not get the endorsement. The NJ is beyond corrupt.

I think it will be very interesting to see if the Usual Suspect counties will run true to form again in this election.

'Toons & McAuliff have to be going nuts. They know whats coming. Jeb wins strong in Fla.. Pataki, the same in NY. Race card being played against them in NY by McCall. Lieberman sees it, thats why he's supporting war against Saddam so strongly, damage control for his image. Al Goron is stumbling around getting in everyone's way. If DimRATs lose the Senate too, BIG TROUBLE FOR 'TOONS COMING!. Scapegoat needed and the 'TOONs are the obvious target. Zell Miller, John Breaux, other moderate type 'RATs will blame 'TOON's corruption. Algore has aligned with the extreme left, they will be POed blaming 'TOONs for not being left enough. Half the party for war in Iraq, the other against. McCall calls them racist, Rev. Al has to join in. Jesse would too, but he's stuck to them with super glue and can't break loose. Charlie Rangel will try. 'TOONs are going to get slammed by all factions in a feeding frenzy, blaming them for the "RATs' misfortune.

This is going to be good folks, we are all going to have a happy holiday season watching!

Thanks for the ping to this post. I surely understand that newspapers are corrupt and endorese whomever they wish, are paid to support. It's just that in my opinion they shouldn't do so. Creating an obvious conflict of interest (reporting news objectively vs. supporting "your" candidate) in no way enhances my opinion of them nor my trust in them.

Thanks again,

EBUCK

Yes, I agree entirely! I don't see the media collectively abandoning the practice though, so if they are going to continue, at least there are some liberal outlets who are endorsing conservative candidates.

I bet that rag of a newspaper the Palm Beach Post endorses McBride. That paper is absolutely the worst.
