Sriously, I don't think that an effective conservative strategy is to advise Democrats that Mondale isn't liberal enough.

This isn't about whether or not Mondale is liberal enough. This is about his character. Humphrey was Mondale's political mentor and when it came time for Mondale to help Humphrey, he gave Humphrey the cold shoulder. Details should be in this book.

I think it is important to understand that most people vote in their best self-interest, particularly with regard to their pocketbooks. Yes, Mondale is an epic sleeze who would willingly destroy the economy to get his constituents a few more bucks. And yes, 'ol HHH would have done the same thing. Remember, HHH was a sinking political ship and Fritz Mondale felt he had to distance himself from the HHH Titanic. On the other hand, it demonstrated a "Clinton-like betrayal from your own personal gain" character flaw.

The point is that many Democrats vote pocket-book first and personal integrity a distant tenth. There is a history of labor unions voting for the scum of the planet as long as they "deliver the goods." Many liberal intellectuals laugh about the antics of the Dems saying that the "good" accomplished by Democrats outweighs their "bads." It is a different mindset and always has been.

I agree with a previous poster that the Republicans are going to have to develop their own campaign agenda because Dems aren't going to care that Fritz is a sleeze. They had better convince the Minnesota Socialist State that socialism is extremely expensive and cures few of the ills that it was intended to cure. In fact, it usually makes it worse (creating the welfare state, poor education, etc).
