Out of a combined inate and sought after desired sense of good and evil, a large enough population of fanatics converged on what was perceived to be an assault on their 'rights' to live a good and moral life, and, after little actual provocation, attacked and killed many of those that were merely coming to discuss an agreement.
Not only did these fanatics kill many people, but even pursued after them to continue the carnage, hoping to 'preserve' what they believed was rightfuly theirs.
