Sniper Escape Bid (Sniper stopped 10 times for traffic offenses) KeystoneKops alert!
News of the World ^

Posted on 10/27/2002 3:31:26 AM PST by ovrtaxt

SMIRKING ASSASSINS: Malvo and Muhammad in the home of a woman cops believe could be another victim.

FEAR: The Rev. Al Archer warned cops
POLICE SEIZE THIRD MAN
A THIRD man who bought the Chevy killing machine with sniper John Muhammad was arrested yesterday.

Nathanial Osbourne, 26, was at the car lot in Trenton, New Jersey, and his name was entered on the log book as co-owner. The ex-undercover police car was registered to an address where the Jamaican immigrant occasionally lives. The FBI put him on their "most-wanted" website. An investigation source said: "The FBI don't go to such lengths just to talk to someone. This guy could be well implicated."

SNIPER ESCAPE BID
FBI agents grab him as he flees

THE 17-year-old Washington sniper made a dramatic freedom bid—by punching his way through the CEILING of an interview room.

John Lee Malvo seized his chance after being left alone by FBI interrogators.

He leapt on a table and quickly smashed the flimsy ceiling tiles with his fists—then began hauling himself up into a ventilation shaft.

Agents dashed into the room, grabbed his flailing legs and wrenched the struggling teenager back down.

Last night the FBI refused to comment on the embarrassing incident at the "secure" and secret federal centre in Baltimore, Maryland.

Malvo and fellow sniper John Muhammad, 41—who face the death penalty in seven different jurisdictions —are refusing to help enquiries into their reign of terror in the US capital.

Posed

One agent said: "Never mind co-operation. They're not even talking."

The pair—who killed ten and wounded three in a 21-day spree— could also be charged with an unsolved murder on America's west coast.

Keenya Cook, 21, was killed in February with a single head shot as she opened her front door in Tacoma, Washington State, where Muhammad and Malvo were living at the time.

The assassins were friends with her family—and even posed for the now infamous picture together on their sofa.

But ex-Army marksman Muhammad, who changed his name from Williams because he converted to Islam, fell out with the Cooks when they befriended his ex-wife.

Claims of warnings about the pair to police BEFORE the killings started were piling up last night.

The Rev Al Archer, who runs the Lighthouse Mission Centre in Bellingham where the pair once lived, said he suspected the Gulf War veteran was a terrorist after September 11.

He said Muhammad distributed pro-Islam brochures, made anti-American slurs and also threatened to kill cops. He added: "If he'd been stopped at that time, a lot of people would be alive who are now dead."

Mr Archer revealed that Muhammad, who was existing on handouts, started travelling extensively by air. Harjeep Singh, who knew the snipers at a YMCA gym, said he was alarmed at their vow to go on a gun-rampage, targetting cops and fuel tankers.

Police and an FBI agent interviewed Mr Singh but no action was taken.

There were also chilling new revelations last night about how Malvo and Muhammad mocked police by repeatedly slipping through dragnets.

Their 1990 blue Chevrolet Caprice— a killing machine with holes in the boot to fire through—was first noted by police on October 3, just 24 hours after the first killing. But it was lost in the system while the entire hunt centred on a white van.

Meanwhile, Muhammad was stopped or spoken to by officers TEN times for various traffic offences.

During a spot-check on October 8, he was parked and asleep at the wheel. But cops failed to look in the boot, where they would have found the Bushmaster XM15 rifle.

The most chilling escape was last Monday when two illegal immigrants in a white van were held in a swoop as they used a phone booth being staked out by cops.

Muhammad and Malvo had given the number of the booth to detectives in a phone call. And just yards away, they were lurking in their blue Chevy, watching every move in the fiasco.

The car was even caught in the background on news footage—and still the jigsaw did not piece together.

Finally, police realised the car they were looking for. But Chief Charles Moose refused to reveal the number plate. It was only when one of his team leaked it that the pair were found one-and-a-half hours later.

Don't you read?

"...could also be charged with an unsolved murder...."

They had no firm suspects at the time. Now that they've caught these two,
they can attempt to resolve the unsolved.

Jeeeeeeziz... All this Monday night quarterbacking makes FR look like
the democrat national headquarters.

Man, you people.....

re:

...."

The Chief was attempting to contain the information to prevent some
citizen from doing what most of you here, expect the police department to do.

Legally/rightfully so. If they switched cars and YOU shot the wrong guy,
YOU would be held for manslaughter.

Ok?

Uh, exactly. That's my entire gripe with you. Thanks for nailing it.

I don't think it is the PC actions that would take away our civil rights that freepers are talking about. It's the PC thinking, imbedded in our Law Enforcement Community, and brought on by continuous race-baiting by the likes of jj, fat al, calypso louie, julianne malveaux, donna brazile and others, that possible slowed the capture. Afterall, weren't they really looking for an angry white male gun nut.

S--- happens, in a free society.

All this banter about how the police aren't doing enough, only encourages
the argument that we should not be allowed the freedom we all have.

Or as the scumbag once said: "We have too much freedom in this nation"

How about more gun control? Why not? That's the banter here! If they
had a tougher time buying a gun, this wouldn't have happened, right?
Where was your government and law enforcement when these "Killers"
were buying ammunition?

Just how much protection from the hazards of freedom would you like?

Then I guess we need to get rid of all the Amber Alerts.

Legally/rightfully so. If they switched cars and YOU shot the wrong guy, YOU would be held for manslaughter.

Probably right, they would go public with MY description and MY tag number immediately.

Anyway, the release of the tag number resulted not in the vigilante murder you talk about, but the arrest of the perps.

You talked in your earlier post about all of us being brainwashed into expecting protection from the police, but now you are saying that the police were right to hide the info about the perps for the sake of protecting some imagined third party from a mistake or the perps themselves from vigilantes.

I am not one of the tough-talkers that you have referred to as "you people," but I must say your position on this one is a little dissonant.

If a private citizen had this info and kept it secret, he would be guilty of abetment and be tried and convicted as an accessory(rightly so).

The cops stupidity cost several lives, and the spree was only ended by a LEAK. If they had their way, the snipers would still be out here. No law was broken and no rights were violated by releasing the tag number.

Am I the only one disgusted by all the accolades and backpatting for the "law enforcement team?" Institutional biases and bureaucratic incompetence allowed this pair to flourish almost to the point of nourishing them and then take credit for stopping them heroically long after the point where they should have been stopped had not all these biases and prejudices that nourished the problem existed.

ex Army marksman...

Arrrggghh! That really aggravates me. It is either ignorance of our military and the way it works or willfull "massaging" of the facts. Every soldier by definition is a marksman because that is the lowest markmanship rating you can get. Every soldier will have qualified with the M16 at least once in his/her career- therefore he/she will always be an exArmy marksman. That's whether you're a cook, a truck driver or a ground pounder.

If it's ignorance of the military- I'm sick of it. Sick of the lefties and media not having a clue about the military because they've never been in it nor have they ever considered being in it. If it's massaging the facts- I'm sick of that too. At some point these assholes have got to stop and look in the mirror and ask themselves where they're really trying to take us.

My thoughts too. In addition, he is originally said to having wanted to kill cops and blow up tankers.

The reality of his actions reveal that persons or person educated him on the more effective targets.

Remember, he killed with a cop only a few yards away from one of the victims. It would have been hard for a "cop hater" to have resisted nailing the cop too.

I want to reiterate something here too (in case any news people are trolling). There is an MOS (military occupation specialty) for journalism. Like 11B is an infantryman, 18D is SpecForces Medic, there is a number designation for one who sits before the camera and reads the news. Their faces are the ones you see when you watch the Armed Forces Network. Even these soldiers have to go out at least once a year and qualify as a marksman (at the minimum). If Dan Rather's crusty ass was in the Army right now- he'd be a marksman.

So if any of you news trolls are here- you can put that in your pipe and smoke it. Stop insulting us, learn a little bit more about the military. Maybe hire some of those Soldiers and Airmen whose specialty it was to prepare the news for the AFN- you'd be getting a person with military knowledge and a pretrained television journalist at the same time.

The police knew last Sunday that the snipers were most likely African-Americans when they interviewed the priest who received a telephone call from the snipers.

The public never knew that until late Wednesday night.

A Chevy Caprice was identified at being at the scene of the sniper shooting of the child, and then again by another witness in the DC killing (car was seen leaving the cene with its lights out).

On Oct. 13 Chief Moose was asked about a Caprice possibly being used by the snipers; Moose reply was "we don't need pushback by the public".

Chief Moose is the biggest joke in Amercia.

To all the media qaeda and politicians praising the efforts of law enforcement in this case: you guys should of had these low lifes a long time ago; at least several weeks ago. Every "pro-islam, anti-american" protestor needs to be deported now.

It's a free country until you become part of a killing conspiracy.

I think this, and ignored earlier reports regarding the pair is what people are upset about.

Just goes to show you how much the Lords trust the peasants: Carry permits are a statement that the police trust the people with arms. Moose doesn't even trust the people with a license plate number. And like the mistrust of people carrying sidearms, this mistrust too costs innocent lives.
