Democrat Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Republican Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. are running neck and neck among likely voters as the campaign for governor of Maryland enters its final hectic week, according to the latest Washington Post poll.
With few voters saying they were undecided and only a modest number saying they might be persuaded to switch sides, the poll suggests that the outcome will depend heavily on each candidate's ability to rally core supporters to the polls.

A Republican has to be up by at least 10 points to break even.

In the Post poll, Ehrlich and Townsend each claimed the support of 47 percent of likely voters surveyed over the past week, making the contest one of the tightest governor's races in the nation. Six percent were undecidedEhrlich held a small advantage among the most committed voters who say they will cast a ballot Nov. 5 no matter what, the poll shows. That means high voter turnout is crucial to Townsend's chances, while a low turnout likely would benefit Ehrlich. The survey suggests that turnout among black voters, in particular, could prove decisive.
Voter turn will be the KEY !

I really think we should ask the Admin Moderator to automatically include a caveat with each polling thread, rambling on about the dead vote, vote fraud, how the GOP can't win, etc.
It really would be an invaluable timesaver. :-)
Did you notice how hard the ComPost is working to increase black turnout? They're worried.

Did you notice how hard the ComPost is working to increase black turnout? They're worried. They should be. The Potomac survey out two nights ago gave Ehrlich a 7-point lead among those "most likely to vote".

Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police endorsed Ehrlich a couple of days ago. I think they decided to get on board with who they saw was going to win the election.

Yep. And we're about due for KKT's racist surprise for Ehrlich. I don't know what it is, obviously, but she's got little choice.
BTW, Steele has a nice commercial running right now where he's matter-of-factly telling voters (and specifically black voters) to look at the records and the opportunity. Nicely done.
If Ehrlich loses, it won't be for lack of effort or advertising.
