The cops couldn't have checked the boot. There was no probable cause. That's true but a database could have shown the same damn car appearing in every shooting. Here's how you do it - enter the license plate number into a database. Ask the database if the same number shows up more than once, even though the shootings are in different areas. Then go find every car that has appeared more than once. ID the owner of the plates. Find the residence. Get a warrant. Search the residence. Scare the neighbors a little. That would do it.

How else would they know now that they kept seeing the same car? It's probably recall now, but come on, we have computers and we can enter data remotely. Wake up and smell the software. Just kidding.
