"And did anyone notice the press conference after the DC sniper was caught? It was a parade of Democrat politicians, most of whom had nothing to do with the case. There were no local officials invited who were not Democrats. They turned the capture of this mass murderer into a Democrat political rally"
I'd buy your complaint except for the fact that almost all local officials and politicians in Southern Maryland (and especially in DC) are Democrats. The press conference probably represented an accurate cross-section of local pols.

I sometimes lurk on the Political Website With No Name.
( What can I say? I have a morbid streak and Stephen King hasn't written a new book in a while!) They are speculating how to USE Wellstone's death, and are frankly blaming it on the GOP. It's very clear that they ARE willing to cannibalize their own to further their cause It's pretty nauseating.

Agreed. The RATS couldn't wait until his body was cold before trying to use his death to politicalm advantage. Despicable.

The press conference probably represented an accurate cross-section of local pols. Wrong! Where was RINO Connie Morello, the Congresswoman who represents Montgomery County? Where were the two Republican Senators from Virginia? The two DemocRAT Senators from Maryland were there as was the DemocRAT governor of Virginia.
TBP had it exactly right.

It's all about good fun, and more should have your attitude.
Life should be enjoyed, not attacked...

"Agreed. The RATS couldn't wait until his body was cold before trying to use his death to politicalm advantage. Despicable." You've swerved into a fundamental difference between "us" and "them". With them, everything is about politics. For us, it's important but not our whole life - to the exclusion of humanity and compassion.
Yesterday I observed (on the few occasions I could get into FR) people putting politics aside and showing real compassion to a Senator who, by all accounts, held an opposite political viewpoint.
Speculate, for a moment, what the tone would have been like on DU if (heaven forbid) a doctrinaire conservative would have died in such a manner.
Politics is a blood sport - true. Maybe that's why we see so many of the Xlintons, Carvilles and Begallas succeeding while "nice guys" fall by the wayside.
Vince Lombardi supposedly said "nice guys finish last". Let's hope that, in this upcoming election, the good coach was wrong.

Some even claimed that he was murdered I doubt it, but if he was, I'll wager it wasn't by the eviiil Republicans, but rather his Democrat Farm Labor buddies, or their national DemonRat co-conspirators.
No matter the facts of his death, I suspect that it will have ultimately cost the Republicans the Senate, as the sympathy vote comes out for both his replacement and Jean Caranhan in Missouri.
OK city local news had a spot on the aircraft last night. It's the same type that the Governor flies and they interviewed one of the pilots. FWIW, he said it's a very safe aircraft and is equiped with deicing sytems, powered by engine bleed air I guess, since that is a common technique in turbine powered aircraft. And of course, two engines.

You sure don't see and hear peaceful behavior from the lefties, either!
A few of us who were in San Francisco countering the rally saw a couple of Wellstone signs. Some guy came up to me with a "Who Murdered Wellstone" sign. I then pointed to the sky and yelled "LOOK OUT, BLACK HELIOCOPTERS!!!!!"

"...a good man like Chief Moose..." I think this is the first time in recorded history that those words have even been placed in that order.

The Member of Congress representing the very district where the press conference was held is a Republican -- a RINO, but a Republican nonetheless. And the Governor of Virginia, a Democrat, was there, but the two Senators from Virginia weren't, even though the embarrassments that Maryland calls Senators were there.
Mikulski couldn't quite be seen over the podium.

I've been predicting that the Republicans will take the Senate, and I was even expecting Wellstone to be reelected. Right now, there is no Republican seat that the Democrats win, but there are a couple (Missouri, for one) that the Republicans would win. Louisiana and Alaska are going to make the difference, IMO.
