Really Russia have a lot in common and can help each other if the politics don't get screwed up again.
It is hard to determine who was right and who was wrong during cold war. We provoked as well as they did. I sure am glad that we never had a major battle like both sides were prepared for.

Do you read Len Deighton? He hasn't written anything new in about 4 years. We all just reread all of his books several times a year. I learned so much about KGB, West Berlin, East Berlin, the cold war, British intelligence, spying, etc. Deighton is incredible.

It is hard to determine who was right and who was wrong during cold war. No it's not. The communists were wrong, and there are still plenty of them about, just not so many in Russia, and those that are left are mostly pretty discredited. It wasn't free Capitalists that murdered folks by the millions because they were "intellectual", in some cases meaning they wore glasses, or were small farmers who didn't want to be collectized, but just to grow food for themselves and the city folks. The Russian government is still a pretty authoritrian bunch, but they are no longer meglamaniacs.
