Sure,

Many consider this event to be part of a recent Islamic terrorist wave of events worldwide, including the bomb in Finland, the attack on the French oil tanker, the Bali explosion, and other events.

So folks are naturally interested in the activity of these Islamic terrorists especially since we declared a war on terrorism worldwide, particularly of the Islamic flavor.

The Islamic terrorists have anywhere from 600-700 hostages, and are perfectly willing to kill all of them (and themselves) to make their point. It looks like this has started happening.

This event naturally gives some insight to the mind and tactcis of the enemy, and of course, some fear similar situations here in the states as we enter our second year of the (unending?) war on the terrorists.

Spetnaz (sp?) stormed building, some dead, hostages being led out...... YEEESSSSSS! Good for the Russians! Don't let the Bastards win. They killed the leader, a Chechen War Lord's nephew. They have remaining terrorists in custody.
I LOVE IT! CNN is spinning this as dead means not a winning situation and they can't believe what the Ruskies did in a atmosphere of doom. It is the Western Reporters who are in an atmospher of doom. The Russians kicked terrorist butt!

Guess what? They didn't. You have no idea how tough the Russians are. Do you have any knowledge of what they went through during WWII and how they would not give in? That the Russians left any German in Berling alive after taking control of the City is amazing. Germans, whole families, committed suicide rather than face the Ruskies. Unfortunatly it is the citizenry that pays the price for the demonic actions of the crazed leaders.

I hate that media spun phrase, "hostage takers". Call them "the terrorists", that is what they are.

67 dead and 700 alive? Ill take those odds. My point was when it comes to Spec Ops, The Soviets and later the Russians never had the training, equipment or PRACTICE, that GSG-9 or SAS have had. When I referred to practice, I was talking about all the oppurtunities in counter-terror ops that Western Europe has had. Typical Russian/Soviet doctrine in situations like this was"Bull in a China Shop". I was in no way disparaging the Russians; The siege of Leningrad and Zhukov's pushing the Nazis back to Berlin, tells me all I need to know about Russian mettle. Hell, they survived 70 years of Communism! All I was saying is, they do things like this a lot differently over there and I hope it comes off. And apparently it did.

They've been genuflecting and posturing over Wellstone's tragic fall in the line of battle...or something...and I couldn't get any news about the biggest story on the globe right now in Moscow!!

To the Russians on FR, I am embarrassed at our lack of attention to your brush with a WTC-size attack...our media is trying to divert attn from the recent humiliating capture of a criminal suspect, a member of two minority groups protected and coddled by the elites. Anything to forget about THAT.

They want to persuade us that we've just lost a Lincoln of the Left, and maybe we should be worrying full-time on how to compensate the Democratic party for their grief...at the voting booth.

RE; Wellstone. This bears repeating. They want to persuade us that we've just lost a Lincoln of the Left, and maybe we should be worrying full-time on how to compensate the Democratic party for their grief...at the voting booth.

I didn't mean to sound testy, although I guess I did. I know that the Spetnaz are well known for their ability to handle this sort of thing.

I am pleased with the outcome since it could have been so much worse and most of the dead are most likely terrorists, at least half are. It is refreshing to watch a country that is not shackled by political correctness and sticky liberalism handle this kind of hostage situation. I have nightmares about the sappy, wimpy response to a hostage situation here. Ultimately with more hostages hurt than terrorists and the legal quagmire to follow, as with the
MD terrorists. A terrorist by any other name is still a terrorist.

I have been wondering why Muhammed and his teenage sidekick are not being tried by the Feds. Taking a teenager across state lines for immoral purposes (I would think murder applies) and transporting firearms across state lines are both Federal offenses. I am not sure if they would get the death penalty in Federal Court, but kidnapping is a Federal offense and does carry the death penalty. So, maybe it would here too.

If not, I would like to see VA get them, they do have and use the death penalty. I do not believe KKT when she says she will allow the death penalty. After the election she will morph back into her sickening liberal self. I am rambling.

Yup, the media knows jut how and when to control the viewer's minds. It apparently isn't very hard when using television.

I agree with your assesment of KKT. Being from the Peoples Republic of Maryland, I know only too well how liberal these socialists are. Having said that, The PRM executed John Thanos three years after he was convicted. He was tried in 90 and rode the gurney in 93. Granted, this was the type of crime and criminal the Death Statute was designed for, but I was impressed by the speed because of the liberals in MD. KKT, however, will probably support giving the kid Life WITH parole and Life Without for the "PlayFather". (What the hell is that, anyway?) So, Kudos to the Russkies, and you are right, maybe we can learn something from them.
