Bush Seeking PRC President's Help in Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan
Communist Chinese President Jiang Zemin might as well be wearing a red suit and carry a bag full of presents. Jiang is in town and George W. Bush wants him to be Santa Claus.
First, President Bush is hoping that he can convince Jiang to rein in rogue state North Korea and its crazy dictator, Kim Jong-il. North Korea recently admitted to running a full-blown nuclear weapons program despite the aid programs run by the U.S.
The American leftist Appeasement Society of Ostriches, led by former President Jimmy Carter, contends that there are no "rogue states" in the world, including North Korea. Accordingly, North Korea is described not as a state in crisis, led by a certifiable lunatic, but as a "parasite" looking for a new sponsor.
The Clinton administration announced that as long as the United States provided the necessary life support to the regime in Pyongyang, we would have nothing to fear from Kim. This was, of course, a formula for blackmail and appeasement, enforced by the very threat of nuclear attack we are told not to fear.
In one year, President Clinton sent over $172 million to North Korea in the form of food aid. The food was quickly distributed to the hungry families of the North Korean army and the North Korean communist elite.
China and North Korean Nukes
China has quite a bit of influence inside North Korea. For example, Chinese general Xiong Guangkai is currently the No. 2 commander in the People's Liberation Army and head of Chinese military intelligence. Gen. Xiong is reportedly close to several military leaders in Pyongyang.
One of Gen. Xiong's more recent public statements was on his friendly feelings for neighboring North Korea. According to Gen. Xiong, the relationship between Communist China and North Korea is like "lips and teeth."
Of course, the Chinese frequently assist North Korea by helping it export No Dong missile technology. North Korean and Chinese missile engineers are working in Pakistan, duplicating missiles made in China and North Korea.
According to a Canadian undercover operative, North Korea frequently ships Scud missile parts through China and across the Himalaya mountains. The Scuds parts are then sold to Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Perhaps Jiang Zemin will promise not to mess with the U.S. electoral process. However, to do so he will have to fire Gen. Xiong.
China and Clinton Campaign Money
Gen. Xiong is well known inside Washington, D.C. Gen. Xiong is responsible for the successful effort to funnel illegal campaign contributions to the Clinton-Gore re-election effort in 1996. Xiong has been inside the White House, visiting President Clinton in 2000.
In 1996, Gen. Xiong sent his second in command, Gen. Ji, to meet with Johnny Chung in the basement of a Hong Kong restaurant. At the same time, Johnny's daughter and a teen-age friend were inside Communist China on a shopping trip.
"We like your president," Gen. Ji told Chung before passing a check for $300,000 across the table. "We want him re-elected."
Johnny Chung was certainly in no position to disagree with Gen. Ji especially if he wanted to see his daughter again.
The $300,000 in red army money made it to Clinton and Gore through the Democratic National Committee. The Federal Election Commission recently fined the DNC $243,000 for "knowingly and willingly" accepting the Chinese army money.
Gen. Xiong is also known outside the White House. The State Department recently accused China of shipping nuclear warhead and missile technology to North Korea. Nuclear weapon and missile technology export is directly under the command of the Chinese army general staff, including Gen. Xiong.
Yet Chinese army intelligence commander Gen. Xiong has also made certain other statements to the open press. One of the most infamous was his thinly veiled threat to launch a nuclear strike against Los Angles during the 1996 Taiwan crisis.
Unlike North Korea's Kim or Iraq's Saddam Hussein, both of whom frequently threaten America, Gen. Xiong actually has the capability to destroy the West Coast of America.
Chinese Arms Sales to Iraq
Still, there are other favors that Jiang Zemin could do for George Bush. One such favor would be to cut off arms sales to Iraq.
The Chinese weapons sales to Iraq are a direct violation of a U.N. embargo that China voted for in the Security Council. Both Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Advisor Condi Rice have accused Beijing of selling advanced military equipment to Iraq.
China has sold Iraq a fully functional air defense network, NATO code-named "Tiger Song." Almost all of Saddam's tanks were made in China, and Baghdad somehow manages to acquire the Chinese spare parts to keep them rolling.
In fact, China is currently trying to funnel advanced missile technology to Iraq. According to U.S. intelligence sources, China is negotiating a missile fuel deal with Baghdad. The deal is one of a long string of such deals between the warlords in Beijing and the maniac in Baghdad.
For example, the harmless-sounding Shangdong Arts and Craft Company is in fact a front for the Chinese army. In 2001, Chinese army officers, operating as officials from Shangdong Arts and Craft, traveled to Baghdad in an effort to sell Saddam advanced missile technology.
China recently promised, for the seventh time, to live up to the Missile Control Treaty that it signed on to in order to avoid required U.S. economic sanctions. Despite the promises from Beijing, a top U.S. intelligence official recently stated, "Chinese arms proliferation activities to the Mideast have continued unabated."
China and the Taliban
While Chinese help with North Korea and Iraq might be difficult presents for Santa Jiang to deliver, George Bush could ask the Chinese president for more help in the war on terrorism. China put in great deal of effort wooing the Taliban leaders of Afghanistan with weapons deals. The very first item bombed by U.S. B-2 bombers in Afghanistan was the Chinese-made air defense network and military communication system used by the Taliban.
Osama bin Laden is more than familiar with Chinese military equipment. Al-Qaeda was liberally outfitted with Chinese-made military supplies and weapons systems. The U.S. military found caches of Chinese small arms, artillery and even surface-to-air missiles recently supplied to Osama bin Laden.
Beijing is reluctant to sever its ties to the terrorist groupies even after the fall of the Taliban. In September 2002, a three-member Taliban delegation, including the personal representatives of Mullah Omar, met with officials of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The Taliban visit to Beijing reportedly took place at the invitation of the Chinese government.
The Taliban delegation, led by Mullah Omar's right-hand man, Ustad Khalil, met with PRC officials for a week. According to reports from the Pakistani press, the Chinese officials told the former Taliban leaders that Beijing views the presence of U.S. forces in Afghanistan with great concern.
There is no question that China could help the U.S. fight the war on terror, prevent nuclear war in Korea and slow up Saddam Hussein. However, Jiang Zemin is not Santa Claus.
Jiang and his warlord buddies in Beijing are naughty and not very nice. George W. Bush should consider the Chinese visit to be more of a Halloween "trick or treat" party than a pre-Christmas sale.
