Read the whole thing. It's great. And it's great to see it from a foreign newspaper.

I love America, yet America is hated. I guess that makes me Bush's poodle. But I would rather be a dog in New York City than a Prince in Riyadh. Above all, America is hated because it is what every country wants to be - rich, free, strong, open, optimistic. And those "Americans" who hate us have done nothing but make us less so.

this guy gets it... we coulda opened a huge can a whoop-ass and turned the ME into a sheet of glass... because we believe in justice and the controlled use of force, we have restrained ourselves... don't mistake this for weakness...

BRAVO!
Our English cousins got it exactly right. To use a cricket term, the writer just knocked it for six. That would be a grand-slam homerun here.

A UK bump!

You're right, as is the author -- we have restrained ourselves. But there is a limit to our restraint as a nation. The vast majority of Americans support going into Iraq -- just as we supported going into Afghanistan. Woe be to our enemies who mistake our restraint and love of justice as weakness. There's a huge "balloon" of "righteousness" pent up ready to explode if we are served up another 9/11 -- or heaven forbid, something worse.

I still find it incredible that 9/11 did not provoke all-out war. Not a "war on terrorism". A real war.So do I.

Hey, this is the first time I've ever been the thread Grinch. I has me feeling a bit...dirty!
