Was in S. F. spring of '73 and a person was shot a block in front of us eating supper at an open-air cafe or something. Senseless slaughter, with an attitude of, "Today's my day," among the people of "The City."

I was in SF too, having just moved there from Florida. Had an apartment on Market Street. Across the street was a Black Muslim bakery. I went in to buy a bean pie, GOD if looks could kill I would have been dead (but fortunately they can't). The place never had any business. And, there were often several black Cadillacs parked in back -- the same kind of car that was seen at the killings. I remarked to my boyfriend, "Look, black Cadillacs -- wonder if it's them?" One morning we were awakened by the sound of breaking glass and barking dogs and shouting cops. Yep. It WAS them. And I lived right across the street from them!
