You'd be surprised, but I agree, they shouldn't be but I have seen people do stuff like that, test a new gun out in the yard...maybe just shot it once, not something that happened a lot, which is why they would have expected to check the whole yard before finding a bullet casing.
could that have been a .223 and is that the connection in this case...murderer was never caught...
