House is close enough to house a GI. We're only a few miles from McChord AFB and FT Lewis. A bomb here would have a series effect on the bases. I'm assuming too that McChord is providing lots of support in the war on terror.

One of the Seattle news channels said that a Fort Lewis soldier, or ex-soldier may be under suspicion.

The way theiy are searching the surface of the yard makes me think the current owner may be under suspicion too. Residue from a former resident would probably not be right on top. Neighbor interviewed mentioned the fact that current owner/resident has people coming and going at all hours. His local envirowhacko group?
