Men Hold Moscow Audience Hostage [Reports of 1000 Hostages]

MOSCOW (AP) — Armed men entered a Moscow theater Wednesday and took the audience hostage, the Federal Security Service said.

The theater was holding a performance of the musical Nord-Ost, one of the Russian capital's most popular productions.

The Interfax news agency said one of its reporters was inside the theater at the time of the raid. She told them in a telephone call that the men had fired into the air and were preventing the audience from leaving, the agency said.

Police units were on their way to the scene.

I watched when FOX broke this before the other networks. They covered the plane and the theater before MSNBC and CNN. Of course, all of them switched back to the sniper.

23:20 Terrorists let chechen and georgians leave (interesting, be cause georgians are eastern christian orthodox - not muslim. However, Georgia has been accussed of aiding chechens by Russia for a while now.)

23:19 Terrorists are tying explosives to the hostages. Witnesses are saying there are pools of blood between the rows.

I would expect the Russians to offer the U.S. full support of any U.N. resolution on Iraq in exchange for a free hand (and U.S. assistance) to carry out something catastrophic in Chechnya.

I don't think they'd ask. About now I'd announce to the Chechins they have about an hour to evacuate their cities, towns and mosques.

I peeked into locale NY in freeper profile messages....they were saying they've been noticing more guards or police a sub terminals, etc......that they noticed more of late hanging around. Someone said they can tell when alerts go up by seeing more guards around sub statons and Union Station. Can't remember exact words.

I would be very surprised if that isn't seriously suggested in the next few days, by the same sort of creatures who actually believe that in Afghanistan, Imams would pray over a grain of rice, throw it at a Russian tank-and then Allah would make the grain explode and totally destroy tank and driver! That's their intellect for you.
