High Influx of Dem Posters
23 Oct 2002 | BSunday

Posted on 10/23/2002 8:52:02 AM PDT by BSunday

It has come to my attention that since the DU has decided to crack down on free speech, we at FR have experienced a large increase in democratic posts. Not that I mind it. In fact, the entertainment value of the site has gone up (I thought it not possible). Consider the following examples, taken just this morning:

While discussing the merits of a sniper defying (snip this) t shirt, I read the following comment: I understand the sentiment, but it might be considered offensive. A target or crosshairs makes me queasy, but you could probably get away with "We Refuse to Live in Fear"...

Or, while discussing the same shirt, I ran across this little gem:"Are the proceeds going to the families of the victims or toward the reward? If not, then I would have to say that it is distasteful

Later, during a discussion of a news item from the past, where a woman's house was firebombed by drug dealers because she was calling 911 on them, the discussion strayed over to gun (go figure) and I read this post: "Sorry that you can't see the dangers of the gun culture, but I guess defeding the sniper shootings and the NRA is old hat for an "idealougue". Note the creative spelling.

So if you have any friends who are Democrats, first of all, you need to get a life, but seriously, please encourage them to post on Free Republic. (Motto: We Love Humor)

Perhaps we can even get a thread going to nominate the best Democratic post of the day.

Please note also my unfortunate spelling of "snipe this" which could double as a vascectomy ad. Serves me right for being a smart aleck

Agreed: the opposition stuff is a hoot...nice contrast to the sapient articles and comment from the regulars. Plus you can engage the DU vanity posters. Good exercise. Good shootin'.

Welcome to FR. I'm not sure the eight days' time you've been registered gives you much of a benchmark, frankly, but perhaps you're a longtime lurker - if it makes any difference I haven't noticed much of the influx you reported. We have quite a spectrum of political opinion here, and the opinions you cited don't strike me necessarily as a sign of a radical tendency to overthrow the government and institute state ownership of the means of production, but maybe that's just me.

We do have some members who are clearly subversive pinko comsymps who have been working for international socialism for years - this guy "dead" is an example - but we're pretty good at tracking these and when the revolution comes he's going to be the first one up against the wall. In a compassionate way, of course.

Er, poster dead has been on FR since 1998. If he showed signs of being one of the "clearly subversive pinko comsymps who have been working for international socialism for years", I feel sure JR would have seen fit to send him packing before now.

I've noticed the same thing.. even a post yesterday from a banned DUer saying "don't ban the others like me, maybe we can change their minds!" or something to that effect. I have to say, though, I was dismayed at the Freeper in the drug-deal-fire-in-Baltimore post you mentioned. I think his blind rage at Libertarians is silly at best.

To be fair, BilltheDrill may know that dead is a New Jersey resident. Let's face it, that's a pretty adequate description for most of those commie b******s that live in NJ. *grin*

In that case I would like to formally nominate the lady who wanted to know where the money was going before she gave her artistic opinion for the "As Long As It's Not Mine Let's Re-distribute It" award. I loved the way she was so quickly spending the guys money who came up with the idea.

Since you've only been here a short time, perhaps you don't realize that on FR it's considered a courtesy to PING the people you're discussing on another thread, so they might defend themselves.

The Freeper you're discussing doesn't deserve this rank observation on your part.
