I've lurked for a while on all the sniper threads and finally have a few comments to make.

First of all, to those that are dead set that this is Al Qaeda terrorism: the facts at this point just don't support this. Now, I'm not saying that it isn't. I just think that such tunnel vision is harmful. When investigating a case like this you have to keep all options open until you know enough to make informed decisions on where to take the investigation. This brings me to the second point...

Lay off of Chief Moose. Having worked in law enforcement myself for a while, I can guarentee you we DO NOT know all the facts. I'd venture to say they probably know who the sniper is, but not WHERE he is. It's common practice for LEO to keep their cards close to their chest. It may look like they are "negotiating" with him, but in reality they are buying time until they locate him, probably using the communication from him to do it. We do not know all. We know very little, but I can promise you that the Task Force knows a hell of a lot.

I agree with you there is likely alot we do not know.I doubt law enforcement knows his identity,or you would think they would issue a photo of the killer so people could spot him.I do not smell Al Queda's brand of terrorism in all this either.Unless they are waiting to make a political statement until later.Moose's comments today did mention that the killer was making some kind of point,which he did not disclose.
