"Somehow the shooter asking for money so far into the killings just does not make sense."

Exactly! You said it all! Gee, I killed all these people. Oh, now I think I'll ask for money for doing it. Nah!!!!!

This whole thing is absurd. ALL the networks should just report on any killings, and leave all these GUESSERS abd Psuedo-Experts OFF THE AIR. There is so much going on in the world, and all their guessing, posing, and divining is severely obnoxious!!! Just shut up, you a$$holes.

"I would have immediately asked the boy how this would have prevented the murderer from obtaining a weapon. When the kid immediately goes stupidly silent, then say, "It wouldn't". A b!tch-slap, perhaps, but a gentle one, and necessary."

Yes, such was called for.
Rational debate is *supposed* to be governed by the cautious exploration of sound ideas, derived from deliberate thought, and grounded in verifiable fact. It is NOT supposed to be dominated by a slavish attention to the puerile feelings of infants - of whatever physical age.
So, yes, the boy needed a spanking, but the interviewer needs one far more desperately, and one not so gentle.

I am sure he has his own agenda but that only he and the police know. Killing is killing - don't matter who it is.

In this instance, yes. But I'm sure you would agree that when our troops kill the enemy—be that Al-Qaeda sympathizers or another enemy that threatens our national security—it is justified. We are proud of our military because it protects us. In that case, we view killing as just and necessary.

My point is that the assassin seems to view his/her/their cause as just. Of course, this is all purely speculation. From my point of view, he/she/they has/have come from the bowels of hell.

He loves making them feel helpless. If he started shooting cops he knows that one of then would at least fire back. Helpless civilians are his target because this can get the cops in a position where they cannot help the public.

No doubt, you have a very valid point. And I completely agree that he/she/they is/are making the cops helpless and crazy. And maybe cops did something that stimulated this kind of response.

Who knows? I certainly would not discount that possibility, but neither would I discount the possibility that there are other motivations aside from playing with the emotions of law enforcement officials. The intricacy of the planning seems to indicate that there may very well be more to it.

"Do ya think?"
Yes, I do. Constantly. To what notion I have expressed do you refer?

In response to your question today about my earlier post [They're now talking about money....apparently a note was left with a 3-day warning....time has "expired," now this...] "I have been trying to find out what they are saying the note said, and your post is the first I've heard. Where did you hear that?'

Sorry for the delay, I haven't been on all day. I don't know if someone else may have answered you, but I heard what I posted on FOX, and also read what peach posted on her thread, here: Beltway Sniper Shootings, Commentary 10/22

The sniper has declared that our children our not safe anywhere at anytime.

If this continues Muslims in the USA will not be safe anywhere at anytime, rightly or wrongly.

This sniper could mean the death of the PC crap in America forever.

I like people who are always looking for the upside in a bad situation.

"always looking for the upside in a bad situation"
gotta love that ol' positive mental attitude.
but, hey, why not?
the anti-constitutionalists are always leveraging stuff like this to foster their agendas, so why shouldn't we do the same? Our cause is inarguably more just.

CNN bought access to the local Fox station's satellite feed. no mystery here.

Trivial matter. Not worth talking about, but I don't believe I said anything about who purchased what.

To what notion I have expressed do you refer?

I guess you meant, "What the he!! you talkin' 'bout, boy?"

"To What notion I have expressed do you refer?" Yeah, I'd bring it down a notch. Welcome to FreeRepublic.

I wanted to get back to the response I got from an earlier post:

Re:#683. Those are all good points. I wonder, though, how many people like that could possibly be out there without generating calls to the police from their ex-spouse, former co-workers, etc.

That may still happen. (Hopefully soon) It would depend on whether or not they recognize his behavior. If he (or maybe she but I doubt it) has already been acting paranoid for a long time, some people may not put it together.

Re:#684.I won't flame you. I would bet you got four out of five right.

Which point do you think I'm wrong on? Just curious.

Re:#687. Maybe he just HATES AMERICANS! I truly am disgusted with "Dr. Phil psycho-babble".."on my wife left me".."my drill sargeant was too tough on me".."I have to go out and eat alone now"..but respect your opinion. Just my opinion.

You may be right. Like I said at some point here, I havent ruled out the possibility that it is a terrorist cell or even an individual who sympathizes with the terrorists. I'm not trying to make it sound like a Dr.Phil senerio, but there is some form of psychology behind this guy. But understand that if they catch this guy and he says the reason he did this was a "my wife left me" excuse it still does not excuse or justify what he has done. This is not society's fault, he is not a victim, he has made a choice.

Re:#705. How about a guy who works for Washington Gas? He could, for example, drive the gas-sniffing truck. FWIW, Washington Gas serves serves DC, and surrounding areas in MD and VA. It'd be interesting to compare gas truck locations to the shootings.

That's interesting. I don't live in the DC area so I didn't know this. Might be worth checking out.

Re:#825. I did read it. It has been said since the first day that he probably lives in the area that he did his first shooting. As far as him listening to the cops and then reacting, this has also been mentioned numerous times. I guess your theory that he walked home today is a new one. BTW, what made the HD shooting the sloppy shooting? No one got a description.

I hadn't heard the media mention that the police thought he lived in the Aspen Hill area. I'm trying to keep up with this case since I have family in the area but with my busy schedule I must have missed that one. As far a the HD shooting. It was the first shooting he did where there was someone standing right next to the victim. There were also a lot of potential witnesses in the area that unfortunately did not pan out. It's also reported that he took the shot at a closer range that he had in the past. It just seems to me that he threw this one together and took more risks than he had up to that point.

""To What notion I have expressed do you refer?" Yeah, I'd bring it down a notch. Welcome to FreeRepublic."

Thanks. Believe it or not, as you see fit, this is my normal manner of discourse.

"I guess you meant, "What the he!! you talkin' 'bout, boy?""

Of course, I was tempted to ask: "Wha'choo talkin'bout, Willis?!?"

It would take a few minutes to set it up and check the scope for alignment. Under cover (say, inside a van) it would be feasible, though it probably wouldn't be necessary except between shootings, if the weapon was handled roughly.

It is basically a little laser that fits in the firearm in place of a bullet. It projects a red beam out the end of the barrel, theoretically along the path of the bullet. Wherever the red beam strikes, that is where the bullet "should" hit when fired. It is simply a matter of looking through the scope, and adjusting the scope so that the cross-hairs coincide with the red dot on the target. This is greatly simplified for explanation, there are other factors that a marksman would consider when using one.

I think you may be on to something solid though, if this is the same rifle each time, then the shooter has a special affinity for it and probably takes great pains to care for it. Tossing it all in a rucksack might not be his or her style.

i can't help but think you're in denial, but do hope you're right and i'm wrong.

They wanted unspecified funds electronically wired to an offshore account. Sounds like UBL to me. Better pass that Homeland Security Bill and get the CIA in on this too.
