WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrats on Monday assailed President Bush's proposal to get low-cost generic drugs to consumers faster, calling it a loophole-laden imitation of the Senate-passed plan that he recently rejected.
"It closes one door to the pharmaceutical industry in their attempt to delay generics but it opens up several others," said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., an author of the Senate proposal. "I think that within three weeks the pharmaceutical industry will find a way around it. That's the tragedy."

Then why didn't the Dems ever introduce their own bil??? Grrr, this blaming the Republicans for everything is getting old.
I was glad to hear President Bush announce this policy this morning. Now if we could only get the FDA to reform itself and get through new drugs on a timely basis, that would be good.

I take it that the Democrats are feeling threatened by G. W. Bush again today? It must be very difficult to be a Democrat these days-- they just can't win.

With their track record of stalling all bills and getting ready to leave town, this one will be easy to blame on those lib/dems who don't really give a rip about seniors. How's it feel, you idiot lib/dems, to have it turned back on ya?

Good point about making the FDA more efficient.
BTW, what also seems to be missed in all of the Democrat demogoguery is that perscription drugs were part of the Medicare managed-care program (Medicare+Choice), but that program was hamstrung by Democrats and the Clinton Administration's general opposition to managed care. But it should be remembered that perscription drugs was and is available for Medicare beneficiaries who sign up for Medicare+Choice, but that the program has been strangled by Democrat opposition.

'Grrr, this blaming the Republicans for everything is getting old.'
Actually I think it is very funny. The Dems are pissed that Bush stole such an easy election tool from them.
If this works, scratch one 'Scare the Old People' weapon from the Dem arsenal.

It must be hell being a Democrat these days!!!! Bush lost the election,Bush is not up to the job, the Bush economy, Bush is using the war for politically gain, Bush is responsible for corporate meltdown, Bush must make his case for war with Iraq, Bush makes case for war with Iraq but it is for political gain, and now Bush doesn't care about seniors.
Must really be hell having a Republican in office who is so dumb that he constantly stays 10 steps ahead of you and takes away all of your issues. Poor, Poor smart Democrats!!!
