You are still a lout.
He uses his freedom to express his sadness about losing his friend and you decide that he needs someone to stomp on him. And you stepped right up and volunteered to do the dirty job. You should enjoy kicking kittens, too.
Secondly, read post 71 on this thread, too. Maybe the poster on post 103 needs a lout also.
Thirdly, he, you and I expressed freely on this thread. He expressed his feelings and is saddened by the loss of his dog. You however, stood over him in his sorrow and stomped on his loved one while he was grieving. I stood up for him and correctly stated that you are a lout, but perhaps you prefer boor, cad, or oaf, instead.
Fourthly, you said, "I express the idiotic practice of people treating animals like humans, and I'm automatically cruel to animals." Well, well, looky there, you created that claim all by yourself.
Fifthly, you sure don't have quite the full understanding of freedom, liberty and conservatism. It is not political conservatism to kick people when they are sad as you did, even if the loved one they are grieving for is a pet. It is not conservatism to hate animals as you do. These practices of yours do not help define you as a conservative, they only define you as a lout, boor, cad, or oaf, take your pick.
Lastly, it is quite the mark of a supreme lout such as yourself to make a special trip to this thread, posting on FR for the first time in months, for the sole purpose of crushing a vulnerable person who was saddened over the loss of a loved one. If you can't understand the love someone can have for a pet, then you can't understand love. That, austinrepub, defines you as the sorriest of humans.
You just couldn't leave this thread well enough alone without taking a high plant step and kicking him in the guts, could you? That is what defines you as a lout.

I have had pets. I love pets and animals. What I don't like, and what is so bizarre about the post to which I responded, is that so many people treat pets as if they are humans. The death of a pet, however "tragic," is not the same as the death of a human. To even describe a pet as a "loved one" means that you're the one with the reality problems.
