Posted October 19, 2002
...Although various polls have suggested that the governor's race is close, a new survey showing Bush with a 9-point lead over McBride gave cheer to the Republicans on Friday.
The poll by McLaughlin & Associates of Alexandria, Va., done for U.S. Sugar Corp., shows Bush with 49.2 percent to McBride's 40.5 percent, with the remainder undecided. The margin of error was 4 percent. Six hundred people were surveyed by phone Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Jim McLaughlin, the pollster, said Bush was running solidly ahead in all parts of the state except South Florida. The results contrast with a Zogby International poll from last week, showing a three-point lead for the governor....

Oh, one last thing. Our financial advantage has an impact that cannot be underestimated. We will simply be overwhelming McBride with negative and positive ads in the next three weeks.
McBride has not been able to define Bush. Bush is known, McBride is not. Bush can define McBride, and is in the process of so doing.

Chris

But I noticed CNN's Judy Woodruff gets all excited when she talks about McMumble and the FL race.
However, I had to LOL when she was the guest on the DAILY SHOW last week, and Jon Stewart responded to her comments on the FL race by saying: "Who is this McBride guy anyway? He owned a string of TGIF stores or something and now he thinks he's qualified to be governor?"
It was very funny.

Re your post #81 - Oh, I'm patient; I just can't imagine that thing, whatever it is, is going to come up right before Election Day. But, I have no idea what's going on with that. Please do ping me when there's something public I can read on it! And thanks for your reply here. :)

I can answer this, having recently FReeped the leftwing losers who protested both Bushes here in Volusia Co.
The hard left (read: Clintigula, Begala, McAuful, CarVile) and their cronies are determined to bring Jeb down for two reasons - one, the 2000 election and two, Jeb is W's brother.
This is why they sabotaged Janet Reno. They are also pulling out the big money guys (Clintigula and the Mrs.) in order to get megabucks from the Hollywood left, etc. for McSnide.
They've got the teacher's union firmly in their pocket - the teachers (illegally, BTW) have been campaigning hard for McSnide right on campi across the state. The teachers main beef is that Jeb has insisted upon testing, which they hate because it makes them accountable.
They've also got a lock on the union/unions, who aren't as big here as in the NE, but they provide the thug muscle.
McSnide is running as a "moderate", which he surely is not. He's also got the race baiters whipping up the black populace (recently the NAACP guy called both Bushes "fascists") in the churches.
It's the same old tiresome cliches and attacks. Hopefully, most voters can see through it by now, but never underestimate the stupidity of the average ill-informed person who votes.
I think Jeb will pull it off unless they're able to cheat massively. We'll be watching them pretty closely.

Russert is a really tough questioner, but I think Jeb can handle him. He is both very smart and very articulate. I'd like to see both Bush First Ladies and sister Doro attending this debate.

I'm sure you could find that info if you research on google.com
In the meantime, check out this great photo on the NYT web site for FL, of this state's current and next gov:
FL GOV JEB BUSH
McMumble always looks like he just woke up.

RE your post #129 - But not all teachers want McMumble. I am a certified FL teacher and I don't want him. And, I know other teachers voting for Gov Bush.

The good news is FL really isn't a virtual tossup...I haven't seen a poll with McBride ahead yet. It ranges from a tie to 9 points in favor of Jeb. In 2000 some polls had Gore ahead in the state, a few had George leading by a small margin. I think we're in good shape.

To: paul544
Yep....This race ...I think is at Jeb 48.5% v McbRude 44.5%. as of today/
Hopefully the new ad will stop MCBride's from getting any closer.

Gov Bush speaks at a WOMEN FOR JEB! rally in Tampa.
True. Also, most people don't realize that in FL, GW won the (1) white female, AND (2) senior voter demographics in Nov 2000, according to articles by a liberal newswriter, Jim Hightower.
