Last year, managers of California's biggest pension fund invested $25 million of public money into a high-risk hedge fund operated by the family firm of the Republican gubernatorial candidate, Bill Simon.

Yet the public might never know how well the investment performs because the pension fund's 13-member board chose to keep secret the financial performance of the individual funds it invests in. That could change this fall if newly elected board members to the pension fund -- the California Public Employees' Retirement System, known as CalPERS -- decide to release the results.

If Simon becomes governor, could he put pressure on CalPERS to invest in his fund in the future? The governor appoints three of the board members directly and one indirectly, and they might feel they owe him a favor.

The Mercury Spews had to get in a cheap shot against Simon.

Aids Dementia must be terrible to suffer from when you are a reporter or editor for the Maggot Infested Mecury News.

If they wanted to release a real story on bad investments by Cal Pers at this time, they would have listed this story: (CalPERS invested $700 million with Davis donor )

Then these Aid Dementia suffering POS's could have had this as part of their story:

The California Public Employees Pension System steered $700 million in investment capital to a wealthy financier who has donated more than $600,000 to Gov. Gray Davis and thousands more to officials who serve on the CalPERS board, according to state records.

According to the records, in the past year the CalPERS board has twice voted to make multimillion-dollar cash infusions in venture capital funds controlled by billionaire financier and supermarket magnate Ron Burkle of Los Angeles.

He is a heavy-hitting political donor with close ties to Davis and other top Democrats, including CalPERS board members San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and state Treasurer Phil Angelides.

Since 1998, Burkle has donated $609,000 to Davis' gubernatorial campaigns, and last year his Golden States Foods firm hired Davis' wife to serve on its board of directors.

This is just another example of our left wing maggots in charge of Kali's fish wraps in bed with Davis and covering him!
