I personally would like to see the 8th amendment partially repealed. The only part that should remain is the fine/excess bail. The physical penalty should be unlimited. Imagine.... death penalty by incineration, exposure to acid and things like that!

I agree unconditionally. Imagine the deterrent value of death by attaching all four limbs and other appendages depending upon the crime, each to separate bull dozers that drives off as slowly as possible until the point of maximum tension is reached. Then the engines are shut down and everyone goes home for the night, leaving the executionee alone with his thoughts and surrounded by the useful idiots of the candlelight vigil persuasion. In the morning, maybe noonish, the engines are fired up and the sentence is finalized.

If that is not a deterrent, then no law abiding citizen should feel guilty about coming out and enjoying the show.
