I'm surprised they identified the witness by name. Hearing a gunshot and seeing a white van does not translate to witnessing the shot or shooter.

He fell off the face of the earth about 15-17 years ago and I hadn't seen or heard from him since but I'd like to think by the "tone" it's the same Robert Young I used to know. Article confirms victim was an FBI analyst who worked terrorism issues. I wonder if she was working the sniper case. She may have been a techie, but I can well imagine quantitative and software techniques are being applied to the sniper case. Maybe that's why she was targeted. It certainly seems strange that she was reportedly shot from a distance of 30 feet, in a big departure from the previous sniping tactics. Maybe this time the perps were not so indifferent about who they shot.

If they were able to target her, how would they have known about her and have been able to track her? A mole in the investigation?
