The defendant brought this on himself. He is tilting at windmills. Any driver on Oregon roads must show his operator's license at the request of law enforcement. Now he has insulted a judge in open court and I agree with the judge that he must be a total wack job and "off his rocker."

A better choice was to show his driver's license on request .....

You may or may not be correct. But I must add, that most judges are totally arrogant, look down upon citizens, and feel they are above the law. I have seen this close up, countless times..... From traffic court to the Supreme court, real, "I am better than you" attitudes.

I dont think a state law requires one to have a license to drive on private property if you will check.Plus one has to have probable cause to arrest or detain and ask for a license to drive.

Your handle is "ex-Texan". I assume that means you lived in Texas. Not born there. No natural born Texan would call himself ex-Texan.

I was going to ask if you could ride. How you would feel if the LAW said you had to get a license to ride horses, but after mulling over "ex-Texan", I don't believe you would mind.

Yes that would have been a better choice for him personally, but not a better choice for America. Most of the unconstitutional laws we have are there because it is easier and cheaper to go along and pay your fines than it is fight back. I for one am glad that there are still men with the will to fight back.

why must one possess a driver's license... why should a free individual need permission from the state to travel as he wishes. states should be allowed to license certain road usage of merchandise, but private citizens moving about freely? just another abdication of our freedom... i applaud this gentleman, but think he needs a better lawyer..
