Here is some free legal advice. (Normally $300 per-hour).

The Defendant should take off his tinfoil hat, turn it upside-down, and use it for a bowl. Have a meal and relax.

The Court need only determine that it has jurisdiction. Such ruling is NOT required in writing. Merely proceeding can be the ruling.

As for not producing his license. This old copper should stop surfing the web-pages of the anti-government wackos. There is no exception for producing one's license. He is required to have one, no matter what the purpose is that he is using the public road.

Exactly. This guy is an idiot and a moron. As a former memebr of the law-enforcement community, I hate to see this guy out here spouting this inane crap. People equate all police officers under that umbrella this moron is painting pink. Let's examine the stupid things here.

#1 - If state law requires you to have an operator's license, you must produce it on request by any duly identified law enforcement officer. Period. he of all people should know that. Moron.

#2 - Refusing to present himself to the court. Contrary to what some people think, this judge handled the situation properly. If he does not present himself to the court and identify himself, he is not considered to be there, and is therefore subject to a bench warrant and arrest.

#3 - Hunger Strike - this is so stupid, I can hardly stand it. His wife saying he would take it to its end. As if he would be permitted to die while in custody. Right. He'd eventually pass out, at which time the correctional staff would get him hooked up to IV's, and he would live right on. Sometimes I wish they didn't have to. This is one of those cases.

In short, quit being a moron, and start trying to live in this world, ya idiot.

I agree with your free legal advice/assessment, but I am wondering why you think the judge plays the mental health card and doesn't simply follow the law with respect to the issues presented to him in the case.

You do have a Constitutional right to travel.

You do not have a Constitutional right to drive a car on public roads while not complying with the laws of the jurisdiction.

Just a thought here... That you found the need to say that as an obvious means to attract credibility, well, it pretty much answers that question.

Do I agree or disagree with your advice? The answer is irrelevant to The Point.
