Sorry, you've got the wrong guy. I've only scratched the surface of the body of knowledge of shooting. And I don't know hsit about "lasers".

I suggest you go buy a good bolt-action .22 with an aperature sight (Marlin makes a nice one), or a good air rifle, hire an NRA-certified rifle coach and go spend some time at the range.

That is IF you really wanna learn to shoot. Otherwise, just stick with the internet and video games.

Not interested in learning to shoot at this point. Long time since the rifle range back in basic.

Just looking for some relevant info that would apply to this discussion since the topic seems focused on the skills of this Beltway shooter.

Maybe kjam22 can shed some light on the use of laser sights--especially how it may connect to this here topic and this here particular killer.

I am certainly no expert on the marksmanship required, but did ask my DH, who used to be in the AF a long time ago...

He said, for whatever it is worth, that the marksmanship isn't extraordinary, but the perps' ability to evade, escape, and plan the next target is what makes him believe there is at least a 50% chance this is Al-Q at work...

I am much closer to 91% and climbing, but hope I am wrong. I was once, you know!

They could be encrypted I guess, but if its a bunch of locals or low-budget terrorists, my guess is that they'd use some sort of off the shelf CB/Walkie-Talkie and police scanner system. A good trip to Radio Shack can produce some real interesting stuff. They probably sell a Heath Kit for your do-it-yourself starter terrorist.
