You're a little late to the party aren't you? This article was posted almost ten years ago.
LOL. I forgot I posted it.

When I reached the comment about Lemurs, I had the same thoughts about barbeque!
Strangely enough, there was no feeling of “de-ja-vu.”

Are they good barbecued? Wrong question. You should ask, what interesting viruses or prions can you get from undercooked lemur? Could you be Patient Zero for the latest and greatest plague?

The Day Ja View Bar Bee Queue, great idea for a restaurant, but it seems like I’ve had that idea before...

I browse FR by first clicking “Latest Posts”. Anything interesting I open in a new tab. I don’t usually check the date unless something seems incongruous. It being an old article doesn’t make it any less interesting to those of us who missed it the first time :) So, thanks for posting! LOL

I didn't think cooking shielded you from the 'bad' prion problem.(?) That thought actually crossed my mind as I hit the Post button. Prions are the simplest known form of infectious agent, and, therefore, one would expect them to be the hardiest. They don't depend on RNA/DNA processes. They might survive cooking that would be plenty sufficient to destroy viruses and bacteria.
According to this reference, you'd need a pretty good pressure cooker. But even then, you'd better check with some high-powered scientists first. Prions are even harder to denature than typical proteins.
