the diva whipped out a crumpled, 1-year-old $100 discount coupon A place like that would issue a $100 coupon???
I hope this story is true, but.....

It could be that this place issued that coupon when it first opened a year ago. I would imagine that it had expired also, but since the management would not want to offend her they accepted it. Even so thats pretty cheap, but what do you expect, got to save money to give to the DNC.

I am familiar with Morton's (it's either at 3rd and Doheny or Beverly and Doheny) and it sure ain't a place that would issue coupons. OTOH, since the coupon was for $100 this sounds more like some sort of gift certificate. Somehow I don't think you would see $100 coupons for Mortons in the Sunday section of the L.A. Times.

It could have been a gift certificate. Actually, that would make more sense than a $100 coupon, I think.
