Season of Scrutiny: Gray Davis (Fund-Raising #1 Issue Again!)

To Lisa Kavanaugh, there's something about Gov. Gray Davis that isn't quite right.

She's a Democrat, and she'll probably vote to re-elect him Nov. 5, but largely because she thinks Republican Bill Simon's positions are unacceptable. She's "suspicious" of Davis and "probably couldn't name a specific thing he's done that I could point to and say, 'Yea, Gray!' "

One place his thriftiness, competitiveness and ability to focus have intersected is campaign fund raising. He has raised more than $60 million for his re-election effort, a state record and not bad for someone Sharon Davis said was taught to "never talk about money."

More then $12 million dollars was donated directly or indirectly by people Davis appointed. Face time positions that are worth literally nothing otherwise.

CFR?

The guy sounds like some kind of android. I suspect he's married only because voters are suspicious of unmarried politicians.

"He said, 'We're going to take over the state of California,' " Chickering recalled. "I said, 'Gray, I don't want to take over the state of California,' and he never spoke to me again. When I said I wasn't into power, basically, that was it."

Well he showed early evidence alright of being hungry for power!!

Lmao, this guy has ISSUES! "I frequently don't wear my emotions on my sleeve," he said recently. "It doesn't mean I don't care. If I didn't care, I wouldn't put up with all the abuse I put up with." Oy vey...

Davis' supporters acknowledge his personality quirks -- controlling, perfectionist, temperamental -- but say he has mellowed with age and experience in the Governor's Office and has reached a level of trust with at least some of his advisers. Can't get along with other children. Feels the need to take their toys...

"Joe" Davis kept a low profile at Stanford, according to his classmates, who remember him as a fiercely competitive "good guy" with few friends and no sense of humor

uhhh, no comment...

His "Experience Money Can't Buy" campaign... BWAHAHAHAHAA!!!

"He made a list of them,(FOOD) and he religiously sticks to the list, because he feels 'if I have to eat anyway, I might as well eat the stuff that's kind of good for you.' If someone had said chocolate can protect you from cancer, he would eat chocolate every day. But it's not on the list, so he doesn't eat it."

Davis likes to brag about his frugality. It is a trait, he said, that comes from his mother, who once berated him for placing a phone call to her from Vietnam at a time of day when rates were high.

Nice lady, her baby calls from Viet Nam and she complains about the price of the phone call. Yep, the boy's got issues...

Even if this nonentity were squeaky-clean, he's still utterly out of touch with anybody who's had to live and work in the real world.
